COSPLAYS AND OTHER HANDMADE GARMENTS

Below you'll find some of my recent costume projects, ranging from garments that required basic sewing techniques, to specialty materials, fabrics, and breakdown techniques.

I am often inspired to recreate or reinvent strong, creative character designs that I connect to.

I love  practicing my sewing skills by trying to capture the feel & essence of a character/show through my own personal lens & limited budget.

UPCYCLED WEDDING DRESS

Inspired by Jim Henson's cult classic movie 'Labyrinth'

Captivated by the ethereal beauty of Sarah's ballgown in Labyrinth, I decided to base my wedding dress on it.

I sourced a vintage wedding dress from a thrift store, took it apart & used it to create a simpler, more practical version of the voluptuous fantasy dress.

Six separate pieces that can be worn on their own or together as full 'dress', my version of this ballgown added 6 layers of tulle to the skirt, 3 to the sleeves/gloves, & replaced the bodice zipper with corset boning & grommets.
